6 reasons why lemons are essential in your beauty routine

Naturally you’re using lemons in the kitchen, but did you know you can also use them for these beauty tricks?
Lemons have a lot of health benefits because they’re packed with vitamins and minerals. You may already use them to freshen up your glass of water or maybe you use lemons in cooking your favorite dishes. But lemons can also be used as a beauty product. A lemon can work miracles from your skin to your hair.

With these tips you will want to use a lemon every day.

1. Fade the scars on your face
A lemon can help you to make scars on your face less visible. The only things you need are a lemon and a cotton pad. Put some lemon juice on the cotton pad and dab the scar a few times. Leave the lemon juice to sit on the scar for a little while and then rinse your face with cold water. According to experts, this not only helps to decrease and fade scars, but it can also help in their healing process.

2. Cleanse the skin
A lemon has a cleansing effect on the skin because lemons contain a lot of vitamins. Use the juice of a lemon to let spots and zits disappear. Rub some lemon juice on the spots, let is sit for a few minutes and rinse with cold water. You will notice a difference in no time and the spots will be gone!

3. Enlighten your hair
You do not necessarily have to go to the hairdresser to get some highlights in your hair. You can do it yourself with a lemon! Coat some strings of your hair in lemon juice and go sunbathing for an hour or so. The lemon juice will cause your hair to get lighter. Do make sure that you take a shower after this hour in the sun to wash out all the lemon juice.

4. No more dandruff
A lemon can be your savior when you have dandruff or even just a dry scalp. Make a mixture of lemon juice, water, olive oil, and ginger. Rub this amazingly fragrant mixture on your scalp and let your skin absorb the mixture until your scalp feels dry to the touch. Then, if you wash your hair with some shampoo, your dandruff is probably a whole lot less if not completely gone.

5. Make a scrub
Do you recognize those dry spots on your feet? Go on! Give yourself a lemon juice foot scrub! Mix some lemon juice with sea salt and scrub your feet with it. If you feel that sea salt is too rough for your skin, you can always use some dark brown sugar instead. The scrub gets a bit softer with dark brown sugar. This sugar-and-lemon scrub is not only great for feet though as it is also wonderful to use on your lips.

6. Skin, hair, and… nails?
Yes you read that correctly. Lemon juice can also be fantastic for your nails. Make a mixture of olive oil and lemon juice. Let your fingers soak in this mixture for fifteen minutes daily for a few days. Your nails will get harder from this treatment. You’ll also find that they get a more natural colour. A real lemon win-win situation.
